This was not my first time at Vatos Tacos. In fact, I visited when there was only a location in Fort Collins. They opened a second store in my town of Loveland, at The Foundry. I am next door right now, typing on my Chrome book at Colorado Coffee Company, my go-to coffee shop.
I have been to Vatos Tacos a half dozen times or so. It’s the perfect place to come while doing a little bar hopping in downtown Loveland. Tacos soak up the booze well! Plus, you can keep up the crawl here with something from their full bar. Yes, a full bar!
In the past, I’ve come with friends, but today I ate by myself, with purpose. I ordered a mango chorizo taco, an al pastor taco, and a carne asada taco.
First, these are beautiful tacos. There’s a lot of stuff on top including the basic cilantro and onions, also cabbage, tomatoes and crema. They are traditional, but traditional plus, plus!
The tacos range in price from $2.75 to $4. They are not served with two tortillas, so it was impressive that these tacos didn’t break, not once.
I liked the mango chorizo the best. I love good chorizo and this was great stuff. Chorizo isn’t often an option at a taco joint so this was different and delicious. The al pastor was okay, but the carne asada had large chunks of steak and was quite tasty.
Vatos Tacos + Tequila is a cross between a sit-down restaurant and a fast-food joint. With a HUGE patio, is the place to be during downtown Loveland’s summer lineup of events at The Foundry.

Happy Taco Tuesday!
Until next time, long live chorizo, and long live tacos!
